„I always liked realistic art. First off, my education in arts was an academic one and therefore had a traditional foundation. Secondly, I have always been astonished by classic art starting with medieval art to the Renaissance all the way to the realism of the 19th century. Finally, I have never felt the urge to defamiliarize or completely abandon my style in order for my paintings to show the things I want to show and tell through them. In the past I did try symbolist painting but I naturally returned to realism without specifically deciding to do so. I dislike this differentiation between realism and non-realism in general as noone may clearly define this tiny gap where realism ends and non-realism begins and for those who are in desperate need of this distinction, I‘d call my style „Magical Realism.“
